Totems of Thought

Elongated, column-like forms in saturated hues stand in a loose row within a lattice of rounded cells outlined by fine dark lines on an off-white ground.

About the work

The composition arranges five principal vertical totem-like figures across the field, each built from stacked ovoids whose edges are encased in a network of hairline black contours that also weave horizontally, binding the columns into a shared grid. Warm reds, oranges, and magentas occupy the central axes, flanked by cooler bands of cerulean, turquoise, and teal, establishing a chromatic rhythm that moves from edge to center and back again. The off-white ground seeps between the cells, creating a sense of shallow depth as if the colored forms press gently against a translucent membrane. Repeated rounded units and interlacing lines generate a steady visual pulse, suggesting a layered structure of thought or language rising in parallel strands, each distinct yet interconnected within the same ordered, porous matrix.
