Shattered Harmony

Radiating from a central deep blue circular form, a network of black branching lines connects multiple colored spheres across a pale ground, each surface marked by fine crack-like patterns and intersecting filaments.

About the work

A dense, ink-black structure spreads outward from a saturated cobalt blue core, its branching arms terminating in circular nodes of cadmium red, chrome yellow, sap green, burnt orange, slate gray, and muted blue that hover against an ivory field. Each colored disc is veined with irregular, crack-like lines that echo and refract the surrounding web of filaments, creating a tension between containment and dispersal. The composition balances large and small nodes in a loose radial arrangement, while the thin linear network—sometimes taut and straight, sometimes wavering—stitches the picture plane into interlocking zones of pressure and release. Color pools appear simultaneously self-contained and permeable, as if the surrounding lattice were both holding them together and pulling them apart, a visual condition that quietly underlines the work’s title, in which cohesion and fracture coexist within a single, continuous field.
