About This Work

Against an ivory ground, dense black concentrations anchor the composition, each sending out filamentous lines that branch, fuse, and reconfigure across the surface, establishing a mesh of irregular cells and channels. Between these dark nodes, pools of cadmium yellow, vermillion red, cobalt blue, ultramarine violet, and sap green appear as overlapping stains that seem to seep into and out of the web, their edges softened where hues intermingle and sharper where they abut the black tracery. The eye moves along these linear conduits from one clustered center to another, tracing a rhythm of expansion and contraction that suggests pulses of movement through an otherwise shallow, planar space. The title "Reuptake" gently inflects this visual network, encouraging a reading of the alternating concentrations and dispersals of color as cycles of release and withdrawal within a larger, interconnected field.
