About This Work

Large, crackled circles of cerulean blue, cadmium red, lemon yellow, and violet are suspended along four sinuous black bands that rise vertically across an off‑white field scored by faint rectilinear divisions. The black bands thicken and taper irregularly, sending out delicate filaments that web across the surface and partially enclose the colored discs, creating a tension between linear confinement and circular expansion. Smaller concentric targets in muted violets, oranges, and warm grays echo the larger forms at the lower edge, establishing a subtle vertical rhythm from top to bottom. The composition balances a loose grid with meandering, vein‑like lines, so that the title "Primarily Mondrian" is gently evoked in the interplay between primary hues and an underlying, but destabilized, sense of order.
