Mondriana

Mondriana is an homage that declines to behave. Large crackled circles of cerulean, cadmium red, lemon yellow, and violet hang along four sinuous black bands rising across an off-white field faintly scored with rectilinear divisions. The bands thicken and taper without warning, throwing out delicate filaments that web the surface and half-enclose the discs — linear confinement meeting circular expansion. Smaller concentric targets in muted violet and warm grey echo the larger forms near the lower edge. The primaries are all present; the grid meant to discipline them has developed a nervous system.
