Orphist Manifold #2

An irregular, rounded mass dominates the composition, its edges softly undulating as zones of crimson, emerald, ivory, charcoal, and deep blue press against one another in a continuous contour. Within each chromatic area, fine, tightly spaced lines trace concentric paths that follow the curvature of the form, creating subtle shifts in density and value that suggest internal volume rather than flat segmentation. The colors appear to slide over and under each other, with pale bands of yellow and green functioning as narrow thresholds between darker and lighter regions, so that the single shape reads as a layered manifold rather than a collage of parts. The surrounding off-white field remains unmodulated, sharpening the figure–ground relationship and underscoring the sense that this self-contained, oscillating structure—echoing the rhythmic, prismatic associations of Orphism—condenses multiple spatial registers into one continuous, pulsating contour.
