Strange Kelp #1

Four colour families divide the cream ground between them: amber discs crowd the upper left, crimson and rose the upper right, and teal and ultramarine spread along the base. Each disc is built from fine concentric rings around a dark central point, so the colour reads as layered and translucent rather than flat, and every overlap darkens into a deeper tone. The discs do not float free. They taper into stretched, fibrous stems that pull toward shared hubs, and those hubs thicken to near-black where the colonies meet, forming a single spine that descends through the centre and binds the four groups. Two small, saturated red discs, one near the top and one low on the right, punctuate the rose field and keep it from settling. The whole arrangement moves like something rooted and drifting at once, a colony of kelp in clear water or a cluster of cells reaching for one another, while remaining an exercise in interval, overlap, and the pressure of one colour against the next.
