About This Work

Set against an ivory ground, the work organizes a network of bulbous, branching forms that radiate from a dark central axis, their contours swelling and tapering like vessels under pressure. Jet black lobes anchor the corners and lower edge, counterbalanced by saturated areas of magenta, cobalt blue, golden yellow, and a concentric orange-and-vermillion oval that appears to press outward at the margin. Fine, hairline grooves thread across the surface in concentric and meandering paths, knitting the forms together and subtly disturbing the surrounding space. The irregular symmetry of the branching structure, with its nodal intersections and void-like black pools, suggests a diagram of connection and interruption, echoing the title’s sense of a life diverted or siphoned away while maintaining an overall equilibrium of weight, rhythm, and color across the field.
