Les Fruits Étranglés
Organic, pod-like forms in saturated colors hang and cluster along four dark vertical bands, connected by a web of fine radiating lines across a pale ground.
About the work
Against a warm off-white field, four irregular dark vertical bands divide the surface, setting up a loose grid from which teardrop, oval, and bulb shapes in cadmium red, ultramarine blue, chrome yellow, and green seem to hang or swell outward. Each form is encircled by delicate filaments that radiate like starbursts or vascular networks, intersecting and occasionally knotting at the verticals so that the colored pods appear both supported and constricted. The distribution of larger forms—particularly the dense black and red shapes near the lower edge and the orange and yellow orbs at the sides—creates a subtle diagonal pull that counters the strict vertical rhythm. Small interior dots and segmentations within the pods echo seeds or cells, while the fine red and black lines tighten around them, visually enacting the tension implied by the title as the forms press against, and are held within, an intricate linear lattice.
