Aleatoric Movement
A six-by-six grid of rounded cells shifts from yellow and red through green to deep blue, each compartment layered with fine looping contours and divided color fields.
About the work
Thirty-six rounded cells occupy a fine six-by-six grid, their grounds moving in broad chromatic passages from cadmium yellow and orange at the left through scarlet, burgundy, viridian, and turquoise to deep ultramarine and navy at the lower right. Within each compartment, pale hand-drawn contours circle an ovoid core, split it vertically, or overlap in lens-like arcs; small departures in scale, alignment, and colour interrupt the modular sequence. The repeated form establishes a rule, but the rule never delivers an exact copy: intervals tighten, loops double back, and fields cross the warm-cool boundary at different rates. This negotiation between a fixed matrix and local chance gives the title its force, making movement appear not as displacement across the page but as accumulated variation from cell to cell.
