Tactility #2
A grid of nine square panels presents rounded geometric forms in black, white, yellow, red, and coral, whose shifting alignments create a steady rhythm across the surface.
About the work
Organized as a three-by-three grid, the work juxtaposes rounded rectangles, circles, and bisected fields that alternate between dense black, saturated cadmium yellow, vermillion red, and coral pink against expanses of ivory white. Each panel stages a slightly different negotiation between figure and ground: elongated vertical lozenges press against the edges, while circular forms, sometimes encased in deep navy fields, recede toward the center like apertures. Borders between colors are clean yet softened by subtle gradations, allowing the eye to register transitions as almost tactile seams rather than abrupt breaks. Repetition of similar shapes across the grid, with small shifts in proportion and orientation, produces a measured pulse that moves horizontally and vertically, suggesting a quiet exploration of how color blocks can appear to swell, compress, or hinge within their frames, in understated correspondence with the work’s title.
